DJ turned producer/remixer Alcala first gained notoriety as the two-time winner of the prestigious Avalon & Satellite Records DJ mix contest in Boston (in 2004 and 2005), which led to coveted opening DJ slots for electronic music powerhouses like Fake Blood, Matt Darey, Viceroy and Yolanda Be Cool. He would later seize the international spotlight with his energizing remixes for artists like Crystal Castles, Givers, BT, Dragonette and M83 that soared up Hype Machine's Most Popular Songs chart galvanizing the electronic dance music illuminati.

Melding influences from 80's synth-pop and electro, classic 90's house, techno and atmospheric ambient, Alcala's rich sound is propulsive, heady and inescapably melodic. With his long-awaited debut EP, 'What I Want', Dan delivers a radiant soundtrack that effortlessly glides between sumptuous "big room" floor-filler, narcotic disco sleaze, driving Latin-flavored 90’s house and deep expansive tech-house that succinctly showcase his impressive widescreen musical range and dexterity.
