For the follow-up to Arabic Piano & Dr Feel’s bliss-inducing Afro House rework of her latest single “Be Your Girl”, Nomi Ruiz enlists dance/electronic music conceptualist Seven Davis Jr. to put his own spin on the steamy street R&B manifesto from her semi-autobiographical sophomore solo album ‘Hi-Def Femme’.

Seizing upon the tender sensuality and raw gritty undercurrents of the original, Seven reimagines the song as a seductive come-on where Nomi’s sonorous wistful vocals take on a more lustful urgency set against his heaving backdrop of deliciously dark and hedonistic lo-fi house laced with jackin' beats, thumping bass, crisp snares, sparkling keys, shadowy chords and a deep thrusting libidinous groove.

The mix brilliantly underscores the pair's magnetic chemistry and makes perfect bedfellows with similar output from artists like Kaytranada, Moodyman, Flying Lotus and Derrick Carter.
