With the initial round of “Be Your Girl” remixes, Nomi Ruiz enlisted South African house music duo Arabic Piano and Dr Feel and lo-fi dance/electronic conceptualist Seven Davis Jr. to transform the steamy hip hop/soul manifesto from her semi-autobiographical sophomore solo album ‘Hi-Def Femme’ into an intoxicating pair of deliciously dark dancefloor-fillers that were equally feverish and hedonistic.

The mixes showcased that, like the classic 90s R&B singles that inspired it, the original song was only one part of the story. Not only did this prove to be a winning combination it also resonated with clubgoers worldwide and set the stage for the more expansive ‘Be Your Girl (Remixes)’ EP.

In addition to reworks by Arabic Piano & Dr Feel and Seven Davis Jr., the 6-track set features an impressive cast of international producers whose vibrant reworks brilliantly illustrate the dynamic range and brio of the original song including: New York's Phenomenal Handclap Band, who bring their ecstatic blend of disco and psychedelic prog rock to the original; French producer Slowz who transforms the track into a broody retro 80s torch song (a la ‘Stranger Things’); and Parisian DJ/producer Kashovski who reimagines the sultry burner into an ebullient peak-time anthem with soaring melodies and sensuous propulsive grooves.
